Justin Timberlake Admits to Having OCD

border=Stuff.co.nz reports that international pop star Justin Timberlake suffers from OCD. This is according to an interview that Timberlake gave to the website collider.com. In the interview Timberlake said he has a “complicated” mix of OCD and attention deficit disorder. Like the British soccer star David Beckham, Timberlake states that he has to make sure that things are lined up perfect and also makes sure that the fridge is stocked only with certain foods.

Timberlake is not alone as there is a laundry list of well known celebs that struggle with OCD. For those of you that don’t know, OCD is an anxiety disorder that plagues it’s victims with persistent thoughts (unwanted), repetitive behaviors and mental images that cause sufferers to engage in certain rituals to keep those thoughts and behaviors at bay. The rituals take on many forms, but most notably, cleaning, straightening, counting, checking, walking through door ways or locking and unlocking doors are just a few. The good news is that although he struggles with OCD and ADD Timberlake says that he still loves to perform for his fans. So although he has to live with it, it doesn’t stop him from living.

Unfortunately Justin Timberlake is not the only celebrity to come out of the anxiety closet and admit that they are a neuroite (person with anxiety disorder). Heather Locklear is seeking treatment for anxiety and depression according to a People Magazine article posted on June 24th 2008. The Locklear camp has been tight lipped about treatment or how long she will stay at an Arizona facility to receive care. This all goes to show that anyone can develop an anxiety disorder at any time. Knowing that these folks have an anxiety disorder may not make you feel better about your own plight, but trust me you are not alone.

Thanks for the link. It is always nice to get different perspectives on the issues we deal with.
