I’m back—with a new show, a clearer mission, and practical tools for calmer thinking.
Over a decade ago I started the Anxiety Guru podcast as a regular guy trying to make sense of my own anxiety. Since then I became a licensed therapist, lived a lot of life (including a serious heart attack that changed my perspective), and realized I had more to share—better organized, more grounded, and wider than anxiety alone. The show won’t be a radical departure; the change reflects my growth, both as a therapist and as a person. Expect practical skills, grounded stories, and therapist-level insight in plain language. We’ll still tackle worry and panic, but we’ll also explore mood, resilience, and the habits that build a steadier life. If you’ve been here from the start, thank you; if you’re new, welcome—let’s do this together.
What’s new
- The Paul Dooley Podcast: weekly episodes on anxiety, overthinking, mood, and real-world coping—told by someone who’s been there and treats it every day.
- Broader focus, same dude: we’ll still talk worry and panic, but also depression, stress, and how to build a steadier mind in a noisy world.
- Structured support: I’ve distilled a clear method into two resources:
One quick tip from the episode
Your mind follows your body. When thoughts spiral, pair any thought work with body work: gentle movement, consistent sleep, simple breath sets, and daily micro-relaxation. It’s not magic—but it sets the conditions for a calmer mind.

If you want more: grab the ebook, check out the course, and keep an eye out for a small, listener-only community space—because healing is easier together.
Thanks for being here. New chapter, same mission: less overthinking, more life.

My goodness I was so happy to see an update! Your podcast and the past therapy sessions I had with you have helped me so much.
I’m so glad you are okay!
Thank you for all you do for us overthinkers!
Sincerely,
Suzy
Hi Suzy! Thank you. I hope you are well. 🙂
Hi Paul, I’m a long time listener to your Anxiety Guru podcast and you have helped me more than any therapist, book or podcast I’ve ever found before. That’s not an understatement, I was so happy to find your podcast – it was like a breath of fresh air! I love your straightforward no-nonsense style and solid advice and guidance, along with your humour and not to mention your breadth of clinical knowledge – lots of ‘aha’ and ‘yes that’s exactly it moments. I was excited to find you’ve begun a new podcast and look forward to listening 🙂 – but are the old podcast episodes not available any more? They have disappeared from my subscriptions and also my downloads – I revisit them when in need of some commonsense(!), and would love to have them available going forward. If you find time to read this comment, please let me know – thank you so much, and I’m looking forward to listening to your new podcast!
Best wishes, Mary

Thank you Paul. I’ve now caught up with your new podcast episodes and am thoroughly enjoying more of your no nonsense advice and chat – so pleased you are back 🙂 So sorry to hear you’ve had a serious health scare, and very glad you are ok now!
I’m back. Starting from the beginning of anything you ever wrote or said. I’m who wrote from Bad to Worse in September 2014. I hate being like this.
