Try to Avoid this Anxiety Pitfall

I know that most of the people that read this blog and listen to my podcast do so because their looking for answers. You’re all looking for ways to make the anxiety stop, so you can get back to business as usual. So I want to share with you a quick tip to help you along.

One the biggest mistakes I made as an anxiety sufferer early on was to waste time. I wasted loads of time pondering, dreaming, and questioning everything, but during all that I wasn’t doing much. That’s because anxiety has the capacity to put you in a state of stagnation and negative self- reflection. This crap can get deep fast.

So, my advice to you is – be active. Be active in your pursuit for answers, but couple it with the intent to take action. In other words, don’t just read stuff for the sake of reading it or read endless forum post(s) about things you can’t effect. Look to change by learning, then applying what you learn. Sounds easy right? But ask yourself, do you consume tons of information and do nothing with it?

For example, for the longest time I used to sit around and read about meditation and yoga but never tried it. I eventually did and I found that it wasn’t all that great for me, but it lead me to exercise which turned out to be a game changer. Once I started to exercise on a regular basis I started to see significant improvements, but only after I took action on what I was learning.

It’s extraordinarily easy to get caught up in self-pity, self-analysis, and despair. Trust me I know. But, nobody but you can stop this. Nobody but you can get you moving faster toward recovery. That’ s just the way it is. So, when you’re doing research, reading or Internet surfing make sure you have a goal. Then, just go do it.

Anxiety just made me stuck in the corner of my room. When I get the chance to be treated, I accepted the opportunity because I never want to suffer from it again.

Great advice. I found myself listening and reading materials on how to deal with my anxiety disorder but sometimes I find myself not applying what I learned on a consistent daily basis. Sometimes you can forget what you learned the next day when you wake up to apply it in your life and/or sometimes you can be mentally fatigued or “lazy” to do it. I learned to stay on top of my anxiety more often now and it has been very effective.

Dealing with an Anxiety Disorder is not easy Fear is an integral part of every person’s life and represents an important defense mechanism. Sometimes, however, an overwhelming fear becomes a disease, I found some good leads for coping at Suite101: Confusing Fear with Anxiety Disorder https://personalitymooddisorders.suite101.com/article.cfm/confusing-fear-with-anxiety-disorder#ixzz0pOTR4Jja

    hey just had a question
Is it possible to have a panic attack without the racing heart symptom?

Because i get racing thoughts, desire to “escape”, and trouble breathing, and i feel like adrenaline is released but i don’t get a racing heart.

I used to get a pounding heart when i first started having attacks years ago but not anymore. Maybe its because they are getting less severe? I think its weird that my heart is not racing but i still can’t breathe.

Of course it’s possible! Remember, racing thoughts, a pounding heart, etc are all anxiety symptoms. Whether they happen together or alone, none of them are dangerous. But yes, it is possible to have racing thoughts and have a regular heart rate.

Even though it may feel like racing thoughts are harmful and dangerous, they really are not. As of right now, each day I am coming to that realization because I don’t get other anxiety symptoms (such as sweaty palms, heachaches) as much as I used to whenever I have the “racing thoughts effect” taking place. I just learned to not indulge in or feed those thoughts and it really works. It just takes practice and more practice which I am constantly doing each day! 🙂
