“First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do” – Epictetus

Sometimes anxiety becomes more then just kind of a problem. It can in fact turn into an all consuming negative force that erodes your ability to hope. But when things get hard what we have to do is take a moment to realize how much we can affect ourselves.

Despite the hardships that anxiety can create you can feel better. No matter what stage of fear, pain or worry you’re in you will get back to normal.

It is helpul to visualize what you would like to be and think about all the practical things you can do to become that person. You have to imagine that it is possible for there to be a possibilty of it happening.

There is a book and film called the Secret that talks much about this concept, but it is no secret. We are what we think we are and we feel the way we think.

Never underestimate your ability to make yourself feel better. Take one day at a time, take deep breaths, and realize that you won’t always feel as bad as you do now.

Setbacks notwithstanding you have to learn to picture better times and place yourself right in the middle of that picture. Remodel your thought patterns, remove the negativity, and you will find peace.

Sorry for the rant but I know at least some of you are feeling defeated, but don’t. You can feel better.
