For many people with anxiety disorder the morning can be a difficult time because it can feel like the start of another difficult day.

This can be disheartening because you may have gone to bed the night before and thought that the next day was going to be better.

At times you may wake up feeling nervous/anxious, sad, still have physical symptoms as if you never went to sleep.

Why do you feel this way? Exactly why is unknown as I haven’t been able to find any convincing answers, however, I will say because your anxiety disorder is deeply rooted in your subconsciousness and because it is a major part of your daily routine of stress and anxiety you could say that it is expected because you expect it.

You wake up and the very first thought you have is am I going to feel better today? It’s almost as if you are checking for the anxious thoughts and feelings – and as a result you are sure to find them.

One of the things that you can do to manage this anxiety morning sickness is to get out of bed as soon as you wake up. Don’t lay there and contemplate too long.

Get out of bed and start your day as soon as possible without giving thought to the difficult night you had or anything else related to anxiety.
Foster change to alter you perspective. Another good tactic is to move the furniture around.

Changing the position of the furniture can provide a new viewpoint, one that is not steeped in the prior weeks, months and years of anxiety that you have endured.

Don’t pay so much mind to your symptoms, especially in the morning. You may feel dizzy, “heavy” or otherwise drained, but move on from this. Yes recognize it, but give it no importance.

Remember that the key is to accept whatever your mind and body are throwing at you. Let your thoughts and body do what they will – don’t stop in your tracks to ponder this.
