Not very long ago I added a small chat room to Anxiety Guru and let's just say that it didn't work out. My goal has always been to inform and educate people about anxiety disorders but I also aim to create an online community - a support network I guess you could say. Lofty goals aside, the chat room thing fell through because I think people visited the site at different times and more than likely missed each other or were turned off by the 'live' nature of chat. Study: Social Anxiety Sufferers Are More Sensitive To Negative Comments

It's bound to happen at some point in everyone's life. Somebody makes a negative comment and it hurts your feelings in a big way. But according to a new study conducted by researchers affiliated with the National Institute Of Mental Health social anxiety sufferers react more to these types of comments. Bad Economy Causing More People To Seek Help For Mental Ailments

An Illinois hospital near Chicago has seen a sharp increase in the number of people seeking help for mental ailments. This has had an adverse effect on the hospital's ability to accept new patients. The Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL has turned away at least 1,200 patients this year alone. (click image to read more)
