Presidential Election Anxiety

With the presidential election looming it seems that the nations anxiety level has risen substantially. There seems to be fear mongering on both sides of the aisle and it’s creating a great deal of uncertainty and fear.

This blog is non-political so you’ll get no promotion or detraction for either candidate here. Moreover I’m not sure that people really want that as they’ve had it up to here (insert neck) with all the negativity. However I do get the sense that people are afraid. They are afraid of the country changing, they are afraid of the nations enemies, they are afraid of a potential economic depression, fear is everywhere.

That’s why more than ever as anxiety sufferers we have to keep our focus and realize that despite all the hoopla things are, at least for now, relatively o.k. In other words as a nation we could be doing much worse in many respects. I think it’s all about perspective, especially in times like these.

This election is a big deal because all U.S. elections for president are a big deal. However the fact of the matter is that no matter who wins power will be transferred to the new administration in a civil manner, as it has been done for over two centuries. No riots or burning cities to talk of here.

The media of course is not helping to quill people’s fears either. In fact I think that they stoke fear and even sell it as a commodity. In the near future I will create a screen-cast presentation detailing this very phenomenon. I just know that many of you are nervous and all the fear based politics and media coverage only serves to scare you even more.

Stay focused on your life and the things you have to do on a daily basis. Focus on the positive actions you can take to ensure a more peaceful future for yourself and don’t let manufactured fear get you down.

THANK YOU for this. We are 8 months post-election and I am scared half to death over here still. This was just what I needed to hear. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
