photo credit: trekkyandy One of the biggest problems that anxiety sufferers face is the fear of going crazy.  This sounds like an over statement but for many people with anxiety losing their mind seems like a real possibility.  Some time ago I wrote a post about why anxiety sufferers are not crazy and I thought of one more reason why this is true. Previously I had basically pointed out two things about anxious people that real crazy people can't do.  The first is crazy people don't know that they are crazy and they don't know what it

Traveling is high up on most people's to do list. It's almost a cliche to hear someone say something like "I'd like to X, Y, Z and travel someday". And it's obvious why - who wouldn't want to go see the world? Well you can count me as one of the few that doesn't. Now let me make clear that I would love to see the Pyramids at Giza, the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Great Wall of China, so on and so forth. I would love to see these places in living color and not just in a book or film. However, like many people with anxiety, I have a fear of

As you may or may not know I am not a huge fan of synthetic drugs. I instead encourage anxiety sufferers to find other means of managing their anxiety disorders before trying anti-anxiety medications. One of the most popular alternatives to anti-anxiety dope are dietary supplements. Today I want to explore the safety and effectiveness of five supplements commonly used to combat anxiety. Do they work and should we even bother? First I'd like to clear the  air a bit and preface this article by letting you know that I am not an anti-drug

As an anxiety sufferer it is normal to feel like you're all alone in the world. But according to some studies you are part of a growing number of people with an anxiety disorder. Some scientist believe that as much as 16% of the worlds population will have prolonged anxiety during their lifetime. That means that out of the worlds current population of 6.6 billion people a little over a billion of us will have problems with anxiety. Clearly you have plenty of company and you are by no means a special case. In fact, anxiety disorder is one of

Going to the dentist is a much hated proposition for many people but if you have an anxiety disorder this can be an extraordinary ordeal of cosmic proportions. O.K. that was clearly an exaggeration however it can really be difficult to go and see a dentist if you have a "nervous problem". In my last post (Dental Debacle ) I wrote about my hellish visit to the dentist. It was all related to an "overdose" or more accurately a misplacement of local anesthetic that contained adrenaline without me knowing it. And although I did include a no

Have you ever wondered what exactly makes you officially anxiety ridden? I have thought about this question a lot and I wanted to a create a list of behaviors that say anxiety disorder loud and clear. Now this stuff is only funny when it's not happening, but it can be funny. You know you have an anxiety disorder when... 1. You enjoy checking your pulse AND have other people check your pulse too. 2. You can't sleep at night and watch colorful, cheesy and old television shows to help you fall asleep. 3. You question your sanity at
