There are basically 6 reasons why alcohol consumption and hangovers make many people anxious and I'm going tell you what they are. I want to share this with you so that you can be more informed and avoid becoming alcohol's punching bag. Ever since I became sick with nervous illness I've heard a lot of people say that anxiety sufferers should not drink alcohol because it makes you more nervous than you already are. I've always found this to be ironic because there are so many anxiety sufferers that drink alcohol to cope with their anxiety,

The Secret To My Semi Success

One of the biggest problems I had with unmasking my anxiety disorder and managing the related symptoms was tied to my utter ignorance about anxiety disorder(s) itself. The good news is that if you are reading this post than clearly you have some clue as to what's bothering you. But don't stop there because knowing is just half the battle (yes that is a line from G.I Joe). I really didn't know what I had back in 1999 when anxiety first struck me. I was confused, afraid, and worst of all I had no idea what was wrong. This leads me to the first

anxiety symptoms

Being anxious is one thing, but thinking that you're about to die because of your anxiety is a different sport altogether. The "normal" person will experience anxiety and shrug it off. Anxiety sufferers on the other hand, tend to wallow in their anxiety because it's often accompanied by ten thousand symptoms that make an anxious person think death is imminent. Although I'm skeptical that anxiety disorders are curable, I do believe they are manageable. One of the most important things that an anxious person can do to manage their nerves is

So there you are - its Saturday night and your ready for the night life, a movie or something that smacks of sociability when you remember, "oh yea I have anxiety so I can't go anywhere". Well to be honest that's me talking to myself but you may have done this yourself a few times. You just assume that you will either not have a good time, freak out, or want to leave early so what's the point. This, I think, is such a sad mindset. I admit I can't drink alcohol anymore because it brings out the nerves but I still enjoy the company of others

One of the most common fears of anxiety sufferers is being stuck in a huge crowd. There is just something unsettling about being surrounded by hundreds or even thousands of people. This fear however is normal and its also something that affects all people in some way. It just so happens that when you have anxiety the affect can be more severe. With the holiday season in full swing it is more likely than at any other time of year to find yourself in a people storm. Whether it's shopping, visiting family, visiting a theme park, or even

Presidential Election Anxiety

With the presidential election looming it seems that the nations anxiety level has risen substantially. There seems to be fear mongering on both sides of the aisle and it's creating a great deal of uncertainty and fear. This blog is non-political so you'll get no promotion or detraction for either candidate here. Moreover I'm not sure that people really want that as they've had it up to here (insert neck) with all the negativity. However I do get the sense that people are afraid. They are afraid of the country changing, they are afraid of

A new study published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research argues that web-based self help programs work. The study took 213 participants and put them through a four week online course aimed at helping the participants with depression, anxiety and work related stress. According to the studies findings, a high percentage (about 95%) of participants reported significant improvement in their symptoms after the program ended. During the study participants were sent directions via email and provided with support by psychology students. The
