When most people think of the holiday season they think about Christmas gifts, food, and lights but when you have an anxiety disorder you might be focused on your nerves instead. We've all heard of people getting the holiday blues, but what about holiday nerves? The holidays unfortunately can present an anxious person a lot of potentially panic causing events. Crowded stores, visiting friends and relatives, travel, the coming of a new year, even shorter days can all be enough to get you down. This past thanksgiving I visited my parent's

As we search for the best ways to defeat our anxiety symptoms sometimes we assume that the best solution to our problem just has to be complicated. How else could such a problem be dealt with right? Well I think that this is in fact not true. You've heard all the cliche's before, the shortest distance between two places is a straight line or how about the best solution is usually the most simple one so on and so forth. Although not always true, like if you wanted to build a space shuttle to reach Mars, simple is usually better. After all

With the presidential election looming it seems that the nations anxiety level has risen substantially. There seems to be fear mongering on both sides of the aisle and it's creating a great deal of uncertainty and fear. This blog is non-political so you'll get no promotion or detraction for either candidate here. Moreover I'm not sure that people really want that as they've had it up to here (insert neck) with all the negativity. However I do get the sense that people are afraid. They are afraid of the country changing, they are afraid of

I need to go to the bathroom but I'll wait a few minutes until I go. After that I better check my voice mail and then my email oh and I have to... it never stops. Thinking then is not an issue but thinking too hard is or at least can be an issue. Having anxiety is like thinking in that it is always there in one form or another. Anxiety though has the ability to
