Anxiety disorder is fear on tap and as a result you are vulnerable to the development of phobias. Take me for example, I have had anxiety disorder for over 9 years and during that time I have developed a fear of flying, fear of the dark, and walking on streets that have a lot of cars passing through them. Being scared of everything is not unique to you and I either. According to couriermail.com.au a British hypnotherapists named Joseph Clough has conducted a survey of more than 1000 people which showed that 1 in 5 of those folks has some

Anxiety Looking Game

Do you ever feel like people are staring at you? Of course we all look at each other when in public, but do you ever feel like everyone is looking at you as you walk past them? I still get this feeling even though I understand that in the whole scheme of things I'm not that special. I was in Costco (super discount store) the other day and felt like everybody was checking me out. Although my rational mind told me that no one in that entire building was all that interested in me in particular, I swore that they were. This is uncomfortable

Is Mental Illness Real?

Paul Dooley

I just read an article in the American Chronicle that gives a scathing criticism of psychology and psychiatry and describes this profession as a "significantly inventive profession". The articles author Lourdes Salvador goes on to essentially bash the entire psychiatric profession and explains that people with mental illness are labeled incorrectly as abnormal and basically drugged up for being different. She argues that people are labeled mentally ill by psychologist and psychiatrist simply because their patients do not behave and or

Show Notes For many people with anxiety disorder the morning can be a difficult time because it can feel like the start of another difficult day. This can be disheartening because you may have gone to bed the night before and thought that the next day was going to be better. At times you may wake up feeling nervous/anxious, sad, still have physical symptoms as if you never went to sleep. Why do you feel this way? Exactly why is unknown as I haven't been able to find any convincing answers, however, I will say because your anxiety

Learning how to accept your anxiety disorder is actually very difficult. This is because our natural instinct is to fight our anxiety symptoms and do all you can to push your anxious thoughts and feelings out of our mind. But in fact, really accepting your anxiety disorder is perhaps the best way to manage and ultimately eliminate anxiety from your life. Sometimes when people ask you to accept something you really don't fully accept it. What a lot of us do instead is just put up with whatever the issue is. However, in order to really

Anxiety Disorder and Your Fear of Death

"Anxiety is a thin stream of fear trickling through the mind. If encouraged, it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained" -- Robert Albert Bloch The fact is you and me are going to die someday. This prospect scares untold amounts of people, and I would venture to say that the vast majority of people have at least some fear of this inevitable personal tragedy. But when you have an anxiety disorder it can actually creep into your mind on a regular basis and become a part of your stream of fear as Mr. Robert Bloch put

Anxiety Fueled Anger

Sometimes the irritability that is brought on by your anxiety disorder can tip you into a full rage. Whether it's general anxiety disorder, PTSD, social phobia, etc sometimes your anger makes you want to Hulk out. Case in point, today my boss pulls me aside and tells me something negative. Something like whaw, whaw, blah blah, negative, negative. By the end of his sermon of put down I essentially lost it (in my mind of course) for a few minutes and I had to focus to maintain the appearance of full tranquility. This is precisely why if your

If you have an anxiety disorder chances are that you have trouble sleeping sometimes or maybe all the time. This is because if you have insomnia you are predisposed to developing anxiety and depression and vice versa. As we all know insomnia is a sleep disorder characterized by your inability to fall asleep and or stay asleep. Learning to cope with insomnia is important for your long term health and does not necessarily require that you pop pills to fall into a soporific sleep state. Whether you have an anxiety disorder or not all people
